Setup / PRACTICAL GUIDE

Check the client, transport and credential together

Avoid configuring the right connector in the wrong host or giving a small task an account-wide credential.

By Bridge Kit editorial · October 2, 2026

A connector’s existence does not establish that your chosen client can run it, authenticate it and enforce the permission decisions you need.

Start with the supported host

A stdio server is launched as a local process by the client. A hosted endpoint needs a supported remote transport and authentication configuration. Follow the current primary guide for that combination.

Linq’s official Claude Code channel is a more specific host integration. Its documented version requirement and pairing policy belong in the evaluation; do not assume the channel config transfers unchanged into another assistant.

Find the real executable

Desktop apps can have a different environment from a terminal. The local Mac guides discuss launcher paths and permissions because a command that works in your shell may fail when started by an app.

Use the provider or repository’s diagnostic command and inspect the tool list before supplying private messages. A successful process launch is not yet proof of correct data access or safe sending.

Limit the credential’s reach

A project-scoped API key can keep a task within one business project. A saved user login may cover broader workspace access, including newly created projects. Choose the smallest documented scope that can perform the task.

Keep secrets out of public examples and source control. Check how the credential can be revoked; Miss Blue’s current CLI guide explicitly distinguishes local logout from server-side revocation of saved sign-ins.

Make the first test observable

Inspect identity, available lines and one owned conversation first. Then test a deliberate permission failure and a reviewed action. Record what the client displays when the server returns an error.

Those checks are a buyer’s setup plan, not results from Bridge Kit. Our reviews link the documentation so you can perform them against the exact current version.
